Ever since the new title sequence for Doctor Who premiered in The Star Beast I knew I wanted to take a stab at recreating it myself. It's such a frantic sequence and the decision to have hard cuts really grabbed my attention. Making a vortex using volumetric clouds was something I had never tried so it was a big challenge for me but I think I captured that same fast paced energy that the original sequence has while also putting my own spin on it.
This project is from my second year at university. The brief was to create an animation featuring an improbable invention. Mine was a small droid intended to aid neurodiverse individuals with communication and day to day difficulties they experience. I thought this was a great opportunity to try out some product animation so I made an advert showing off this droid. I'm particularly proud of the lighting in this video. CG studio lighting was something I'd never tried so I was very happy with the outcome.
Here we have what I would say is my most ambitious project yet. A 20 minute, fully CG short film telling a story about the Daleks. What you can see here is a trailer for this film, the full video is available on my Youtube channel. This film began production during the lockdowns of Covid-19 and took me two years to complete. I knew that before it came time to apply for university I wanted a really bold ambitious project that I could show with pride so I worked on this every day after college and it's still one of the pieces of work I am most proud of.
This is my third adventure into the world of music videos. I really wanted to go back to basics with this video by which I mean it was all about having fun and making something cool. I took on the role of creative director once again in a small team of animators and motion graphics designers and all our efforts came together to produce something energetic, vibrant, wild and really fun.
Last but not least we have another Doctor Who title sequence recreation. The story behind this one however is a little different. During my second year at university I discovered a real love for title sequences and decided this was something I wanted to pursue. In order to really test my abilities in this regard, I decided to recreate a title sequence that I thought was way outside my skill level. The idea of placing myself out of my depth on purpose to see if I could rise to the challenge really excited me and I am thrilled to be able to say that I believe I did just that.
